By accessing or using the Project Hamburg Research website and services, including MapleScholar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

2. Description of Services

  • MapleScholar+: curated research discovery platform
  • Journal Submission Support for under-resourced scholars
  • Academic Integrity and AI Forensics for institutions
  • AI education workshops on responsible AI use

Services may change over time, and Project Hamburg may modify or discontinue services at any time.

Service Boundaries

  • Features and availability may change without prior notice.
  • Program participation may require additional eligibility or onboarding steps.
  • Some services may be offered through third-party platforms with their own terms.

3. User Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information
  • Use services lawfully
  • Respect intellectual property rights
  • Avoid unauthorized access and harmful content
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations

Prohibited Uses (Examples)

  • Attempting unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data.
  • Using services to distribute malicious, deceptive, or unlawful content.
  • Misrepresenting AI-generated material as original authorship.

4. Intellectual Property

All site content is owned by Project Hamburg Research or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

Academic content accessed via MapleScholar remains subject to publishers' licenses and copyrights; use must remain consistent with educational and research permissions, including fair use where applicable.

Users should cite original sources and MapleScholar appropriately when referencing content.

5. Limitation of Liability

  • No liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • No liability for loss of profits, data, or use
  • Services are provided "as is" without warranties

6. Academic Integrity

  • Use tools for research, learning, and practice
  • Do not use services to plagiarize or misrepresent authorship
  • Follow institutional integrity standards when applicable

7. Professional Services

  • Professional consultation services are governed by separate engagement agreements.
  • Service availability, scope, and pricing are set at the time of engagement.
  • Revenue from professional services supports the nonprofit mission.

8. Donations

  • Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
  • Donations are generally non-refundable unless required by law.
  • Project Hamburg may refuse or return a donation at its discretion.

9. Termination

Project Hamburg may suspend or terminate access at any time, with or without cause or notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to users, Project Hamburg, or third parties.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by United States law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

11. Changes to Terms

Project Hamburg may modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms are effective when posted, and continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
