1. Our Story
Project Hamburg Research was founded on a simple conviction: access to knowledge should not depend on institutional affiliation, geography, or income. In a world where critical research on climate, health, and policy is often restricted by paywalls and language barriers, we use ethical AI to widen access and practical understanding.
Our journey began with MapleScholar, a platform created to make academic research easier to discover across languages and disciplines. As the work expanded, we saw deeper structural issues: talented researchers at under-resourced institutions struggled to publish, universities needed support for responsible AI practices, and students needed guidance on acceptable AI use.
Today we operate as a nonprofit serving three connected needs: open research discovery through MapleScholar+, publication support for under-resourced scholars, and institutional partnerships for academic integrity and AI forensics. Every program follows the same principles: equity, transparency, and community empowerment.
