About Us
Democratizing ethical AI for communities worldwide
Project Hamburg Research is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers in research access, AI education, and academic publishing. We serve marginalized, racialized, and minority communities across North America and globally.
Our Story
Project Hamburg Research was founded with a simple but powerful conviction: access to knowledge should not depend on institutional affiliation, socioeconomic status, or geographic location. In a world where research on critical issues—from climate change to public health—is locked behind paywalls and language barriers, we saw an opportunity to leverage ethical AI to democratize access and empower communities.
Our journey began with MapleScholar, a platform designed to make academic research accessible across languages and disciplines. As we grew, we recognized deeper systemic issues: talented researchers from underserved institutions struggled to publish their work, universities needed help navigating AI's impact on academic integrity, and students needed guidance on using AI responsibly.
Today, we operate as a comprehensive nonprofit serving three interconnected needs: providing open research access through MapleScholar+, supporting under-resourced scholars through journal submission assistance, and partnering with institutions on rigorous academic integrity verification. Every program we build reflects our core commitment to equity, transparency, and community empowerment.
